Hey Fellow Entomologists!
Thank you so much for joining us last night. It was great to have dinner together and leave as fully certified entomophagists.
You joined us for an #openexperience, which is Kudoz’s way of showing the community what awesome experiences are hosted by volunteers in our catalogue. Though not usually for a group of 80! Nicole’s Entomology Experience would usually be one to one, where she’d share the taste testing with an adult who lives with a cognitive disability.
We’re always on the hunt for new folks to host experiences, again, not to a crowd of 80 but one to one with someone who might not get a chance to learn about your passion otherwise.
Last night you heard a bit more from Larissa, who has been going on Kudoz Experiences since November. So far she’s tried her hand at Tour Guiding, Burlesque Dancing, Mennonite History, and Cocktail Making. All of those experiences were hosted by awesome local volunteers who get an excuse to do what they love for an hour a month.
We’re confident to say that it’s the easiest and most reflective way to volunteer! It’s on your schedule, wherever, whenever, and whatever you want to be doing more of!
The easiest way to get involved is to book a time to meet up with Laura for a training and brainstorming session! Laura is our “Experience Curator” and will help you set up an awesome experience based on your know-how.
How could #openexperience have been better for you? What did you love or not love? Please share your ideas so our future events can be even better.
Thanks to our collaborators:
- Nicole Aleong, for giving up her birthday to present (very knowledgably) the actions that we may take in making bug protein a daily reality.
- Coast Protein’s Chris, for being a kind and wonderful collaborator. Don’t forget that Coast Protein is a Vancouver-based company. Find out more at coastprotein.com
We’re still wrapping our heads around #OpenExperience events and would love your feedback. What worked, what didn’t? What topic would you like to see next?
Don’t forget to book a time to meet with Laura and share your passion!
p.s. Download the slides if you missed it!
