Every great learning experience (not just a Kudoz experience!) has 5 ingredients. The first is a personal story, What makes it special to you? When I host my Archaeology of Trees experience I tell Kudoers that I used to work as an Archaeologist in BC and about my love of local history and culture. The second ingredient is using your senses, what is something you can touch, smell, taste or feel on an experience? In my experience we take a walk through the forest, I invite Kudoers to touch tree bark if they are comfortable, smell the forest air and even taste the berries when in season. The Third ingredient is to get hands on, what is something you can do, try, make, build or visit together? During the trees experience I bring a tree ‘cookie’ and we count the tree rings together to learn how old the tree was. The Fourth ingredient is a take-away fact, what did you learn on the experience? Sometimes it’s something small like learning how to identify Western Red Cedars, sometimes we get really into local history and I share facts about Dendrochronology, CMTs and more! The final ingredient is to document the experience! We take a picture of where we are; the forest, what we are doing; counting tree rings, and who we are with; a selfie together! Plus you can share them with family and friends and post them to your Kudoz account.volume_up
